Winners Revealed in the UWI Alumni Association Fundraising Raffle

Winners in The University of the West Indies Alumni Association (Barbados) Chapter 2023 fundraising raffle recently collected their prizes with the association thanking the public for its generous support.

The draw was held on December 22, 2023, with the prize-giving event taking place on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the 3Ws Pavilion on the Campus. Organizers praised the enthusiastic response, especially from alumni, other members of the campus community and the public eager to contribute to the welfare of students facing challenges on the Campus.

The top awardees of the raffle are:

  • 1st Prize: Niketah Cox - Caribbean Cruise for Two
  • 2nd Prize: Terrance Straughn - $2,000.00
  • 3rd Prize. Sean Dupigny - All-Inclusive Staycation at Golden Sands (3 Nights)
  • 4th Prize: Margaret Bishop - Dinner for Two at Champers
  • 5th Prize: Eudora Rice - MasterTech Microwave

Consolation prizes were awarded fifteen persons, in recognition of their participation and support for the initiative.

President of the UWIAA, Ms. Maxine McClean, conveyed heartfelt appreciation, stating, "The Alumni Association has a rich tradition of giving back to the university and this fundraiser is one of the many initiatives of the Association to assist students. Special thanks to all those who participated in this raffle and we encourage the campus community to continue to support our initiatives."

The funds raised from this venture will contribute to the Student Hardship Fund, a lifeline intended to assist students facing financial emergencies that could otherwise hinder their education at the Cave Hill Campus.
