"One UWI, One Alumni Family"
Nicolette Wright Black cops 2025 UWI STAT Mona Award

Mrs. Nicolette Wright Black (centre), noted Jamaican Attorney-at-Law, truly exemplifies the spirit and values of UWI STAT, making her the perfect choice for Alumni Ambassador of the Year 2024–2025, given by the Vice Chancellor’s UWI STAT Mona Ambassadorial Corps.
UWI STAT President Curtis Clennon, on behalf of the Corps, acknowledged her contribution as follows: “Her unwavering dedication to service, mentorship, and regional development has left an indelible mark on every ambassador she’s encountered. She was especially supportive of me during my tenure as president in myriad ways, but it was her willingness to be present that stood out the most for me. With grace, compassion, and fierce advocacy, she has consistently gone above and beyond to uplift young leaders, offering not just guidance, but genuine care and encouragement in moments when it mattered most. Her legacy is one of empowerment, unity, and love for the UWI community, and through every initiative, conversation, and quiet act of kindness, she has shown us what it means to be a true Pelican. This award is not only deserved; it is a celebration of her unmatched impact and the countless lives she continues to inspire.” In addition, she is a valued member of the Alumni Ambassadors’ group called the Young Alumni Advocates. They continue to support the student Corps as evidenced by her award, but she also works closely with me and other Alumni Ambassadors in many various ways. She is also a fun and caring individual who always supports alumni events and the UWIAA Jamaican Chapter and her team, which she leads as President. Founder of UWI STAT, Celia Davidson Francis was delighted to share in the moment and echoed the sentiments expressed and noted that she is very pleased that she will continue to work with Nicolette and the YAA team going forward as they continue to give support to the student Corps, not only in Jamaica but across all five campuses.
