We are proud to announce Diane Cummins as the first recipient of the prestigious IAD Alumni Volunteer Award. This distinguished honour is one of the highest accolades conferred by the Institutional Advancement Division (IAD) to recognise exceptional alumni whose sustained commitment to volunteerism and service has left a meaningful mark on their nation and region.
The Award, created by the Director, UWI Alumni Relations, Celia Davidson Francis, is envisioned to further increase the ways that the IAD recognises the contributions of its alumni. It is a testament to the profound respect and admiration held by fellow alumni for Diane’s unwavering altruism, her significant national impact, and her exemplary embodiment of The UWI’s ideals of service, leadership, and responsibility. IAD Alumni Volunteer Awardees serve as inspirational role models, to their peers across the alumni community, and to current students who represent the next generation of Pelican leaders and change-makers.
The 2025 IAD Alumni Volunteer Awardee, Diane Cummins, is a proud 1979 graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Cave Hill Campus. For nearly two decades, she has been a committed volunteer in the Parents Education for Development in Barbados (PAREDOS) programme, supporting family empowerment, parenting, and national development. In her professional life, she is a respected development consultant, who has contributed her skills as a government rapporteur across multiple administrations, working on critical national initiatives.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Diane for her outstanding service, exemplary leadership, and enduring legacy of impact. Her dedication continues to inspire and uplift communities across Barbados and the wider Caribbean.
