The UWI at 75: Rooted, Ready Rising!

As you know, 2023 is the 75th anniversary of The UWI. All five campuses have been having celebratory events and more will be held until the end of the year. For more information on these events, please visit the website of each campus.

During the third week of July – dubbed ‘Jubilee Week’ – The UWI Vice-Chancellery will be coordinating and/or organizing the following events, to which you are specially invited:


1. Tuesday, July 18

a) UWI Medical Alumni Scientific Conference – 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS). Tickets for both days online for US$150 with accreditation. Free entry (with online registration only by July 13th) for medical students with ID.   

b) ‘Smoker’ Mix and Mingle – Variety show & social mingle - 7:30 p.m. at the Sir Kenneth Standard Room, FMS. Tickets online for US$40.

2. Wednesday, July 19 

a) UWI Medical Alumni Scientific Conference – 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS)

b) ‘UWI 75th Celebration Fiesta’ – Pelican Awards, Dancing & fun! – 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Lobby, The UWI Regional Headquarters.  Tickets online for US$55.

3. Thursday July 20 at 9:00 a.m.

“Beyond 75: Vision, Strategy and Leadership for Higher Education” is a forum on the future of higher education which will take place at The UWI Regional Headquarters, in the E. Nigel Harris Council Room. It is a FREE event and will also be streamed live on UWI TV. 

4. Thursday July 20 at 7:30 p.m.

The Platinum Jubilee Concert by the University Singers will be held at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts on the Mona Campus. The tickets are J$3,500 or US$24.00 and tickets can be purchased from the Institutional Advancement Division, UWI RHQ building, located opposite the main entrance to the Mona Campus on Mona Road or online at: https://www.uwi.edu/alumnionline/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=80

5. Friday July 21 at 2:00 p.m. JA time 3:00 p.m. EC/USA time or 8 p.m. UK/CET time 

Join us for a free virtual "Conversation with our Honorary Graduate, The Hon. Courtney Walsh" as he ‘talks cricket’ as only he can!
