"One UWI, One Alumni Family"

UWI Alumna, Roxanne (Miller) Bennett's NEW Children's Book: 'Jerk Chicken Magic'

This heartwarming tale has quickly gained recognition, becoming a #1 Bestseller on Amazon Canada in Multicultural Stories for Children and #1 New Release on Amazon US in Children's Stories on Immigration. Roxanne, along with her husband Noel-Andrew Bennett, presents a poignant narrative that sheds light on the experiences of Caribbean immigrants, particularly through the eyes of a 6-year-old.

The book not only explores the challenges faced by immigrant families but also highlights the cultural significance of preserving cherished recipes and traditions. Roxanne Bennett, a communication, marketing, and engagement professional with 15 years of experience, shared, "The journey of the Higgins family mirrors the experiences of many immigrant families. The book celebrates the rich history and traditions these families maintain while navigating the challenges of starting anew. It offers a unique perspective on this journey through the eyes of a child."

Noel-Andrew, a seasoned creative director and owner of the popular Jamaican music and entertainment publication, Backayard Magazine, adds, "Writing this book resonated deeply with us. As Jamaican-Canadians, we identify with the Higgins family, and we believe other families will see parts of their immigrant journey in them as well."

This tasty story redefines immigrant storytelling and is the perfect gift for kids on any occasion.
