Jamaican, John Robinson is the First Black President Of National Actuary Organization 

John Robinson, a Jamaican actuary, has been chosen to lead the Society of Actuaries as its first Black president. The Society has around 100,000 members in 80 countries, making it the largest actuarial organization in the world. On October 25, 2022, Robinson was honored during a presidential installation event in Orlando, Florida.


Robinson obtained a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Mathematics from UWI before going on to get two Master’s degrees in statistics from American colleges. In 1982, he joined R. Watson & Sons, Jamaica, which is now known as Duggan Consulting, to start his actuarial career.
