H.E. Sir Rodney Williams receives Most Involved Distinguished Alumnus Award

His Excellency, Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda is the recipient of this prestigious award, given by the Director, UWI Alumni Relations and the Alumni Relations Arm of the Institutional Advancement Division, The UWI. This esteemed accolade is a testament to his outstanding commitment and active service to both The UWI and the UWIAA Chapter of Antigua and Barbuda. He is considered to be a beacon of inspiration and a shining example of the values instilled in us by our beloved University. 


The Director, UWI Alumni Relations, Mrs. Celia Davidson Francis noted his dedication to advancing the goals and values of his Alma Mater through tangible outreach, networking, media, venues, and philanthropic support. She believes that his efforts have not only strengthened the bonds within the UWI community but have also contributed significantly to the development and prosperity of graduates in Antigua and Barbuda, which has in turn impacted his nation. 


His unwavering support, as well as his commitment to The UWI exemplify the true spirit of a distinguished alumnus. His contributions have made a lasting impact, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps and continue The UWI’s tradition of excellence. The Director also noted that his exemplary leadership and dedication serve as an inspiration to all UWI graduates. She extended her sincerest thanks and heartiest congratulations to him on this well-deserved recognition, with great Pelican pride.

COFFEE WITH CLASSMATES (CwC) , powered by Cafe Blue, at the Alumni House is a welcome addition to the alumni engagement activities held on the Mona Campus. Alumni, UWIAA executive members, UWI STAT Ambassadors and Faculty are invited to meet for a monthly coffee chat between 10:00 AM – 12noon for a delightful morning filled with casual conversations and camaraderie and a relaxed networking opportunity.  Café Blue, our sustainable supplier whose operations demonstrate their social responsibility in light of the global climate change challenge, provide their trademark Coffee and light refreshments. This event is proudly presented by Alumni Relations - IAD and the Campus Alumni Office of The UWI, Mona. Our next aim is to engage alumni in a monthly event between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. as well, for those who may attend at a later time of day - so look out for those details soon.
