Christopher Lee (above) will be stepping up to lead the UWIAA Toronto Chapter and Ferdinand Fortune (below) will continue to assist him as Immediate Past President as the Chapter brings together a new exciting intergenerational, diverse and energised team.
Ferdinand Fortune and Michael Henville assumed the leadership of the Toronto Chapter of the UWIAA in 2010 as Co – Presidents, taking over from the long standing President, Maud Fuller, who started the Chapter in 1988. After Michael’s passing in 2018, Ferdinand has remained as President. It has become increasingly challenging to continue as Chapter President and in order to ensure a strong and sustainable future for the UWIAA Toronto Chapter, one that includes the energy, ideas, and perspectives of younger alumni, the Director, UWI Alumni Relations has supported this transition for new leadership to emerge. Christopher isa Communications and Business Development Consultant based in Canada. Christopher, Jamila Greene King and six other younger UWI graduates who are enthusiastic about contributing to the life and growth of the Chapter are looking forward to working with Ferdinand, Chapter Executive members Jean Patterson and Sheila DeGannes and all Chapter members going forward.
The Chapter looks forward to the next era with renewed purpose and promise, and will let the Light Rising from the West shine brightly in Toronto.
